Once you get a trainer you think you are off to a running start, right? Not even close! Creating a great relationship with your horse is actually easier on you and your horse than hiring a trainer. There are several reasons why having a trainer is a challenge for you. BECAUSE AS A HORSE OWNER YOU NEED TO DEVELOP THE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR HORSE, NOT YOUR TRAINER. While trainers can be helpful in working with you to solve big problems, if they are not guiding you to relationship then your horse is not going to listen to you. The second reason is that often trainers use aggressive tactics that actually set your horse back and cause him to not trust humans. YOUR TRAINER, OR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE IN HOW TO TRAIN YOUR HORSE YOURSELF CAN HOLD YOU BACK FROM HAVING THE DREAM RELATIONSHIP YOU ALWAYS WANTED WITH YOUR HORSE. Have a lack of a bond, trust, respect, willingness and focus in your can keep you from having a fun and joyful time with your horse. It will take much longer in the end to jump over developing the bond and go directly into training your horse with aggressive methods. Methods you may not think are aggressive. Maybe it's even phrased "natural". What distinguishes a great relationship and connection with your horse vs. a "trained" relationship is that the horse has a choice. The horse desires your company over anything else. |
